I love birthdays. Anyones birthdays... not just mine. I think they are fun! Junior just turned 23 last Saturday. To him it was no big deal. His older sister's (the only girl) birthday is 2 days after his, and growing up he never got his birthday celebrated. Why? Well because she was more important that's why. Junior is not the type to want attention on him anyway so he says it never bothered him.
This year was the 2nd year in a row that no one called him on his birthday. From his family that is. Including his own Mother. And I knew that was going to happen. So I had planned a mini trip to Vegas for us so we wouldn't be here on his birthday. We invited my sister-in-law Jen along and she jumped right in. It makes me feel so bad that he doesn't think that he deserves to be celebrated and loved on this day. In the parking lot of Walmart before we left town we were talking about what to do once we got there (we had no plans)... and he kept telling me he was uncomfortable having the day revolve around him.
He said, "It was just the day I was born."
I said, "Had you NOT been born... I wouldn't be married to you. And for that I want to celebrate."
He just smiled.
And off to Vegas we went... like the 3 musketeers.
After a while we arrived at the Hoover Dam. I've only been to Vegas once (for our honeymoon) and it was nightime when we passed through and I was asleep so I've never seen it. It was pretty neat. We didn't actually stop. I just took a million pictures from the car window.
Then we took note of the time difference since we had Arizona time on our phones and such. (Little did we know... the time would change in the middle of the night... more on that later)
Then we continued on past the bridge. Once we were completely out we stopped on the side of the road again for some pictures. My camera was just amazing to me... taking the most wonderful pictures.
Once we arrived we checked in, left our luggage in our room, and finally decided what to do. Since Junior wasn't making it easy with his "whatever you guys want" responses... we just decided to what what we wanted. Hey that worked out great! So we went to the outlets!! And shopped, shopped, shopped. Junior got some sweet birthday gifts including new shoes... and we stopped at the Disney outlet and got stuff for the kids. We can never forget about them.
I really wanted a new purse and if it had been up to Junior he would have just bought me one right then and there... but it was his weekend and I wanted to spoil him. (Which he was) So I just took a picture of my favorite store instead. He was annoyed that I didn't buy anything but it made me happier to see him having a fun time and truly excited about the things I was buying for him.
Finally it was time for dinner, it was 8:00pm Vegas time, making it 9:00pm Phoenix time, meaning we were starving since we hadn't eaten! So we got ready to paint the town. We planned on having some dinner, walking the strip, watching some free shows, and maybe doind some gambling.
But soon we were ready. Jen and I looking cute! Lucky Junior got to walk around with both of us.
We cruised the strip trying to decide where to eat and ended up just across from where were staying. On our honeymoon we stayed at the Circus Circus and Jr and I knew they had good restraunts inside. Most were closed by 10pm when we got there. But we did find one we hadn't tried and had dinner there.
And we ended up not doing anything we said we were going to. Instead we sat in that restraunt talking for nearly 2 hours. And went down to the casino and played the slots for an hour. Jr and I won $80 and ran with it.
But we were so exhausted by then we just wanted to go back and sleep. So we headed across the way to our hotel. And I snapped some pictures of it from the top of the parking garage.
FYI I had never seen Vegas at night so I was excited by all the lights. Crazy huh?
And Jen was out as soon as her head hit the pillow.

And while you guys were having all that fun I got to babysit and play rock band or rock hero or whatever the name is. Love the pictorial, I would go to Vegas just for the sight seeing.
