The Queen: Michelle

The Queen: Michelle
I am 28 years old. Still a princess but the queen of my family. Spoiled beyond belief. Lucky and truely blessed. A lover. A crafter. A mother. A wife. A friend. This is me.

My King: Junior

My King: Junior
The LOVE of my life! He completes me and balances me out in every way. He's a workaholic. He's loud, blunt, and crazy. He drinks Monsters like his life depends on it. Above all he is the greatest Daddy I could ever ask for, for my children. And he treats me like his Queen (and he calls me that too).

The Model Child: Diego Ray

The Model Child: Diego Ray
9 years old. My only boy. He is the epitome of the perfect child. He is so responsible and independent. Wise beyond his years. He is laughter, he is love, he is compassion, he is simply amazing. He keeps me grounded and reminds me always that I am beautiful. He is a natural born leader and takes care of the household and family better than me!

The Diva: Alayna Danae

The Diva: Alayna Danae
7 years old. She is drama. My fashionista for sure with a style all her own. Sensitive and loving when she wants to be. Thumbsucker. My biggest headache because she is the most like me. She is the only one who can cause me to become uncontrollably angry. She loves to dance. She loves to model. My bookworm and most academic.

The Wild Child: Arielle Marie-Grace

The Wild Child: Arielle Marie-Grace
4 years old. This one is something else. She is pure comedy. Never a dull moment with her crazy antics. She is also the crybaby. She does things her own way. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to be cute to get it. My Disney loving pal. So girly. Her favorite color is pink. Loves Rapunzel. Will wear a dress every single day. Can't leave the house without a bow in her hair. She refuses.

The Munchkin: Atalie Belle

The Munchkin: Atalie Belle
2 years old. My sweet baby. She loves her Mommy above all else. She is a cuddlebug for sure. The calmest most well behaved baby ever! But she has TONS of energy. She is so small and petite. She loves to sing and dance. She so SO ready for ballet and has yet to even step foot in a class. She loves Minnie Mouse and watching Disney Jr. She is hilarious and talks way too much.

Times Change

When I was a kid my grandparents watched us (and our cousins) while our parents worked. My Grandpa walked us to and from school which was just down the street. When we got home we got to watch maybe and hour at the most of tv... but mostly we played. We played house, store, school... or made up games. We had talent competitions, we acted out pretend movies, and we did news shows. We even choreographed routines and practiced them. Our options were limitless. When we weren't doing that my Grandma who used to sew would let us into her sewing room where she gave us needles and thread and let us make barbie clothes. She had a box of scraps and we would spend hours there cutting our designs, sewing them (sometimes with help from her or her machine), and then trying them on our dolls. Man was that a blast! My Grandpa always tried to keep us busy too. He would play his guitar for us and sing, we read the bible or learned our prayers, or he'd have us writing or drawing on paper. And whenever he could we'd be outside.

Man was childhood simple and easy.

Now we have so much technology!
My kids will say they're bored if they're not on the computer, watching tv, or playing Nintendo DS, Xbox, or whatever else they have. They don't even hardly play with toys anymore!

The majority of this is my fault. I never forced them to turn off their things and just play. Alayna doesn't have a problem with it but Diego is still constantly telling me he's bored.

I've decided to make it a priority to not depend so much on these things. I have cut down their TV time. And now I am trying to do more things with them. We're hardly home during the day. We can be found at the park or even just outside playing. Diego is no longer allowed to play on anything electronic on Sundays. Sundays have always been our family day since it's Jr's day off. But now he's not allowed to turn on anything unless of course we decide to play Rockband as a family that day.

So I've been taking the kids new places. I've bought crayons, markers, stickers, paper, paints, in hopes of getting the kids to be more creative. And maybe learn a thing or two.

So our new thing is sidewalk chalk. And man do they love that stuff. Once the sun isn't so high I take them out and they draw for hours. Arielle even wants to get in there and get dirty.

I am glad they can see that there are other fun things to do besides internet, tv, and video games.

Man, those were the days. I remember playing with our self made toys and we used to be outside all the time when I was a kid. TV was not too important and I was too young to care about music. Just the great outdoors and our homemade toys.

Isn't sidewalk chalk the greatest. I let the kids use it at work, just so I can too.

Too young to care about music?

I completly agree with you on them being bored without "technology". When Christopher was small, he lived with his gameboy on hand and anytime we made him turn it off, not even 5minutes had passed before he was saying, "I'm bored!" UGHHH!!!!!... very annoying. So with Angel, I have refused to buy him anything like that at such an early age. He does LOVE t.v., but he is also limited. They DO have to use their imagination and burn that darn energy they have trapped inside.
