But this post isn't about me...
it's about a small boy who turned 6.
Friday was his actual birthday and my cousin Rebecca (and her boyfriend) made the trip from California out here to surprise him. You see Diego and Becca are best friends. At least that's what Diego tells me all the time. He didn't know she was coming. So in the morning I had promised him that I would take cupcakes to his class to celebrate. And when I dropped him off at school I told him... "Diego, one more thing, when I bring your cupcakes in the afternoon... I have another surprise for you." So as planned I get there to take his cupcakes. Only he was slightly confused when I didn't walk in with them in hand. So I open up his classroom door and in walk Becca with the cupcakes. It took him a few seconds to process what just happened but he ran up to her and gave her the happiest hug ever and looked like he was going to cry! My heart just melted. He was genuinely so happy to see her and overcome with emotion that he almost cried. But he pulled himself together enough to pass out his cupcakes and be serenaded by his classmates singing "Happy Birthday".
The rest of the day was spent eating junk food, answering birthday phone calls, and paying Rockband.
On Saturday, we threw him a pirate themed birthday party and invited al of his friends from school. Everyone showed up! We had a total of 30 kids including cousins. It was quite exhausting for me who had went to sleep late the night before... and ran around all morning. But he had tons of fun so it was worth it.
But now I have Arielle's First Birthday Party on Sunday.
This Mama never stops when it comes to her kids.
This amazing cake was made by my SIL Jennifer's Mom. She makes the most delicious cakes (and I don't eat cake) and comes up with the best designs! I just told her our theme and let her do her work... isn't she amazing?!
The soon-to-be Birthday Girl!
Diego became a rich man... he got $60 cash and a $10 gift card for Walmart!
Arielle got to spend a lot of time with her Nina Becca over the weekend. And although she won't be here for her goddaughter's birthday party... she did bring gifts that we can't wait to open! The boxes are from the Disney store... so one could only wonder!
